Not sure how "extremely well kept" a pub is when your beer mat sticks to the table and your shoes stick to the floor. Reminded me of the Manx boozers my dad used to drag me round, basically God's waiting room for sclerotic old widowers and their mangy mutts. Cheap booze, but it's Sam Smith's, so the stout's vinegar. One for the seasoned drinker (but not the dressed-up girlfriend I took here for a looksee). anonymous - 31 Oct 2007 14:25
Used to be great when they had bands playing. That was before Samuel Smiths management ordered them not to have any music live or not (what a stick in the mud)! Now it's a decent pub (although a bit dull) that serves the cheapest beer in New Cross/Deptford. In the good old days (the 90's) it even had a pub theatre upstairs. JamesW - 2 Mar 2006 19:34
A rare gem tucked away in the backstreets of Deptford. A proper old traditional pub that is extremely well kept. It's a Sam Smiths pub so that means, no music, no TV just good beer at good prices and good conversation. The new management have really turned the place around and whilst it is still very much a locals pub all manner of people are made to feel welcome and enjoy the cosy atmosphere. Definitely worth seeking out if you are in the area. Matthew O'Donoghue - 4 Feb 2006 14:42
