For a gastro pub the architecture has not been too brutally mauled.Retains the charm of a country pub, some good selection of lagers but too few real ales. The food is excellent, reasonably priced and the seating alcoves are intimate with a mellow atmosphere. Service very good and staff always friendly. I have spent many a good evening here making one feel all is well with the world. The inviting charm of it's traditional exterior is matched by cosy country decor matched with a roaring fire and mulled wine in winter.

My first visit - basically a chain foody pub, but the food was good, and reasonably priced. More importantly, they sell Staropramen on draught - excellent! And mind your head when you go to the gents - unless you're below about 5'5"!

Overall, a nice atmosphere, attentive staff, quite pleasant decor, good food & drink. If you're after a sensibly-priced food pub in the area, you won't go far wrong here. Didn't get the impression it was much of a "locals" pub, though.
