user reviews of the Swallows Return, Goring By Sea

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Ventured in to this pub with my wife and two young children for a bite to eat.

The pub itself is nice and it has probably the best male toilets in worthing. Very clean.

The only thing that let it down was the food, though edible it was nothing special and a bit overpriced for what is was.

I had the burger and chips (£8) a handful of chips and a burger in a bun. For £8 I expected at least a side salad.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying don't go here just don't expect a decent meal.

Thank you cledlyn, clears that one up with no nonsense. Others please note, this pub / restaurant is also titled 'Something' on this site. 1/10.

Since 'bikers' review this pub has been developed by the Mitchells and Butlers chain. There is no real ale and the emphasis is restaurant and bar food. Speaking of which, keep well clear of the steak, mushroom and Guinness pie. Its the only dish the chef can't make a judgement on the sell by date.
In my case our meal was completely ruined by by the presentation of a pie that had been forgotten at the back of the warming oven and tasted like a raw OXO cube.
The pub staff and Mitchells and Butlers seem to pre-occupied to be bothered. Maybe thats why the company lost £247m last year and standards have dropped.

Has anyone tried it recently ? In the past it started as one of the best in this area but slipped quite suddenly. No rating left, will visit again in early 08.
