| The Elephant and Castle is better value than ever. Two main meals ordered together cost £8.00 and a bottle of Hardy's Shiraz cost £5.95. Saturday evening was 'Pudding Night'; all at £1.50. Miniskirts seem to be in fashion there. We are looking forward to living 5 minutes walk from this pub. pburton - 12 Jul 2009 19:49 |
| This pub has gone down hill big time over the last few years. The food is dull and doesn't look fresh. The chefs if that is what you call them look a mess and dirty. I have been drinking in the 'Ellie' for seven years now and I can say it is at its worst! The decor is tired, loads of light bulbs out, smelly, toilets are disgusting and in need of a fix, unfriendly (The majority of the staff would rather go for a cigarette than actually serve.) Why do I go in there? well since the loss of the Friars we now only have two pubs in west moors and I do like a little walk about. Try it for self and prove me wrong. themunkter - 2 Jul 2009 21:39 |
| The Causeway's loss is the Elephant's gain! Hurry up and get your own pub so i can cook again!! seabass2go - 9 Jun 2008 00:17 |
| Another HW Wellfed pub, somewhat better than its clone, the Pure Drop in Ferndown. The beer varies little, not bad but it would sometimes be difficult to tell which one you were drinking. They do sell a lot of 'lager', though a fair proportion seems to finish up on the pavement outside. Platic food from a plastic menu is the order of the day. Saying that, I've heard good reports regarding the carvery. In one area the 'Ellie' does have a good reputation, that of a community pub. More power to their elbow for that, but surely West Moors deserves better in all other respects. My rating (on three recent visits). 5. That score rsets largely on its community pub status. | The Christmas menu is pure 'Brake Bros' + Carvey. Beer fridge is on the warm side, and whippet chief barman is too serious and useless. This is mainly a male boozer jolajosa - 23 Dec 2007 00:25 |
