Good pub. A really popular venue with locals and grockles alike. Beer great - a rare outlet for Bass - once THE west country ale. johnny.sausage - 31 Aug 2011 19:53
Well we come to Chideock 3 times a year every year and this place just goes from strength to strength. Guess the owners have been here about 8yrs or so now and every time we visit it just seems busier than before. This is a family run establishment and therefore offers the only value for money in the village. It is a proper pub that offers great pub grub, a full plate at a reasonable price. Looking at the pub right up it now has 30 teams playing there in the winter so it is obvious where the locals go and if it is good enough for them then that will do for me. Always a friendly welcome and always time for a chat. For us it is now the only pub in the village. Keep it up. SurreyCC - 12 Aug 2011 03:50
A great village pub - huge portions of tasty food and a great atmosphere. Poker on Tuesday evenings (except in the summer when it's too busy) anneattheseaside - 6 May 2011 15:33
Had a great meal with good friendly service (as usual), my daughter left her glasses in the pub and the landlord drove around the village until he found us to return them! Try this place out !! see you next year Frankie868 - 10 Aug 2010 15:37
After discussing this site with the Landlord, and having a laugh at the comments, i discovered the following. The pub is a family run freehouse and is owned by a Husband and Wife ( Mike and Helen ) and Helens Parents. They bought the pub in 2002 and moved down from Essex. The pub is mainly wet led and classes itself as a " A pub that serves food ". It currently has 27 teams playing Darts, Alley Skittles, Table Skittles, Pool and Crib so is definately a locals pub. That said it also has a high number of " Holiday Locals" who are about between March and October when the campsites are open. The pub becomes very much food led during school holidays when you need to book ( Easter was VERY busy here ) and with the Hospitality here along with the large portions and great beers i can see why. Will definately be back here and in my opinion it was the best of the 3 pubs in the village for hospitality and Value for money. Thetourist - 13 Apr 2010 16:19
