| Recently I had to pop my son to his school and wait whilst he sat an exam, Morrison's soon exhausted its many charms and a visit to a pub was called for,so I visited the Surrey Hounds , the beer was good, the garden was GREAT and the food looked a picture, the service was impeccable. If this pub was a little nearer to Sanderstead it would be a major boon.a 9/10. slerpy - 16 Aug 2008 19:34 |
| It's pleasant enough, a typical town centre pub, but particular reason to go there unless other business brings you to the area. Useful if you're waiting for the train. Punch Taverns/Spirit Group so a Chef and Brewer under the skin with the usual lack of imagination that that implies. nickdavies - 16 Aug 2008 19:02 |
| The Surrey has recently been refurbished, I understand the need to draw people in but it has lost its old charecter and now has a typical chain pub feel. Unfortunetly they ahve also upped their prices and there are no offers on anymore, a double vodka is now 4 squids. Still best of the local's in caterham depsite this. Caterhamite - 5 Feb 2008 13:49 |
| Well kept pub, even if some of the regulars are a bit rough around the edges. Has character, even if it's not as nice as the Valley nearby. Generally have a couple of real ales on and the usual selection of generic beers. Worth stopping for a pint if in the area, but not somewhere to go out of your way for. | I live in caterham, and have been a regular here for the last, many years. The atmosphere is usually very good although it can be very quiet in the early part of the week. It is very good for the sport type people, and is probably the best place I have been to see footbball games on a big screen. Has a couple of large plasma screens as well so you can see the games when it is packed from any where! Staff are generally good, and the landlord, Steve, runs the place very well and keeps the unruliness to a very low level. Caterhamite - 7 Jun 2007 13:25 |
