Visited here on Sunday 11th October having taken a walk from Kenley to Caterham. We couldn't see any other pubs in the immediate vicinity so decided to give this a try. It seemed a bit like a Wetherspoon's but the food and drink were of course rather more expensive (but not excessively so). Meals (burger of some sort, sausage and mash) were ok but inferior to similar JDW fare. Beer (Hog's Back TEA and Butcombe Haka bitter) was decent. No complaints overall and very convenient for the railway station.

Generally a local's pub with pleasant staff in a good location near the station. It really is a lager - and Fosters at that - drinkers' pub, but the landlord is doing a really good job of introducing a varied selection of real ales which change regularly. This evening you could choose, I think, from Dark Star Hophead, Clarence & Frederick's APA, Woodfordes Wherry and something else. The quality is also improving as more people drink the cask ale. Long may the progress continue!

A pleasant traditional English boozer. Once through the front door you are greeted by a central bar with a chequered tiled floor, lots of oak panelling and wood with high stalls and comfortable red leather benches. There is a good selection of real ales and stouts on tap, and good value traditional pub grub available. The bar maid was a young lady who was also very pleasant and doing a sterling job of looking after the customers. Sky sports is available here and would be an excellent place to watch the football. It benefits from being very close to Caterham station and within the Oyster card zone, needless to say I will be returning. Probably, the best pub in Caterham.

This is probably the best pub in Caterham, friendly staff, great range of drinks and a fantastic atmosphere.

This pub had a makeover a little while ago and a change of management recently - neither of which have solved the problems in the mens toilets, there is a constant puddle on the floor, the mould on the walls & ceiling has got to the point where it is starting to flower and if you need more than a no.1 you're a braver man than me to risk the cubicle - I don't want luxury in a pub toilet but don't want to walk out of them feeling dirty.

The old landlord didn't smile often, the new one doesn't seem to have got the hang of it either.

The tables are always sticky and need a proper clean, a quick wipe with a damp cloth doesn't clean, it smears.

The beer is fine and reasonably priced, the food is mostly deep fried/pre-packaged but is a good price so you're getting what you've paid for and the staff are mostly ok.

If there was any competition in Caterham Valley I think this pub would shut down quickly, the only other pub, The Pilgrim is full of chavs and fights.

If they could sort the toilets, sticky tables and get the landlord/manager to look like he wants to be there it would be a pub i'd go for a night with friends rather than somewhere I stop for a quick burger when i'm running late. It's a nice layout with a good size bar area, kitchen and garden and could be so much better.

I know I go on about the toilets but if they can't be bothered to look after the hygiene of the bits you can see then what happens to the lines/kitchens???
