Popped in for a swift one, ended up having two and at those prices - 1.44 a pint for Sam Smiths OBB who wouldn't! It's keg but was in excellent nick, at a perfect temperature.

Bar staff friendly and welcoming to me, a stranger, as were the small group of locals in the small bar. A few rooms of differing sizes, including a dining area and one with a pool table.

Use these pubs while they're still around, and this one is a treasure!

A funny little place, we stopped here for a post-hike drink on a Sunday. There was one bar open on two sides to 2 rooms/bars, one tiny and one small. Both rooms were pretty full of people who all seemed to know each other, so we assumed were all part of the local farming community. We were made very welcome by cheery friendly people from teens to oldies and everything in between. Bar staff were friendly too. Beer good (Sam Smiths) and the landlord was trying to get us to eat some of the food he'd laid on in the bigger of the two rooms. OK it was only crackers and pate and pickled onions, but it added to the feeling of being made welcome and apparently it's available every Sunday, sometimes to the extent of a whole roast! Not the most luxurious pub we've ever been to, but certainly friendly and welcoming and we'd be happy to call back in another time. Lovely little beer garden out the back, too, for those who wanted to smoke.
