I say it again - is there anybody at BITE who can take note of the changes we send you about pubs on your website???? This pub has not been called Varsity for a couple of years now and you are misleading the public if you don't allow your contributors to change the details!!!! Hello!! mcroyal - 12 Aug 2011 23:04
This bar has recently re-opened as The Cape - real ale available but more of a young persons venue bar. South African theme. mcroyal - 13 Aug 2010 14:35
Popped in the other day and tried the Andwell (it was the only one of four pumps working) - it was warm and tangy, eurgh. Early days but I suspect that quality will be pretty indifferent outside of the weekend. The interior is a fairly bog-standard take on a town centre bar, IKEA fittings and some sofas. Apparently this place is managed by the same person who owns the Hook & tackle these days...? Quinno - 13 Jul 2009 20:56
Real ale has been introduced to this bar. There were four handpumps when I visited and the beer range was Youngs Bitter; Marstons Pedigree; Wells Bombardier and a local beer - Andwell Brewery's Gold Muddler. (though it is possible that not all beers are on at any one time) The Bombardier was £1.95 a pint which is pretty good for a town centre venue bar these days. mcroyal - 2 Jul 2009 11:28
Still enjoy this pub on a Saturday lunch time. Good deals on the drinks. The only down side is the terrible state the womens toilets are always in. I wish they would get the doors fixed so they lock!!! palinlover - 15 May 2009 13:55
