Popped in during a recent visit to nearby Branscombe to try the range of Otter beers. Tried the Otter Bright 4.3% and it was tip top. Not gin clear, but I was the first in after opening at 5.30pm so the beer had been sat a while. It was however exceptional really enjoyed it. Would recommend. It's a wine bar type pub, but has a cosy warm feel to it. Mothbag - 12 Sep 2011 10:49
The real ales sampled were unfortunately all served at room temperature as they had probably been sitting in the pipe overnight as the pub was fairly empty. Some improved cooling to the beer lines AND the hand pump is required. kebabman - 10 Aug 2011 11:23
Since this is the brewery tap for the Otter Brewery, you should expect the highest of standards from the beers at the Holt. In my experience these expectations are always met - I have never had a pint there that wasn't absolutely 100% tip-top. Examples of four of the brewery's range are always on handpump. The decor is quite modern, bright and wine-bar-ish, so not your usual traditional pub, but the landlord remembers you between visits and is always keen to please even when the bar is packed. A range of home-smoked treats and tasty tapas are available if you are in a snacking mood and an impressive menu of modern/classic dishes are offered upstairs in the evenings. All food is prepared in the shiny downstairs kitchens by shiny chefs and you can watch them at work while you quaff a fruity pint of 'Head' from the comfort of a leather sofa. Sadly there is an unhappy ending to my otherwise positive report. In all honesty, I have to say that I have eaten here in the evening and was somewhat dissappointed. The food we had was good but frankly not as good as I had been expecting. A triumph of style over substance, I would say it did not deliver value for money. Maybe I was unlucky and caught Chef on a bad day, but at those prices every day should be really good. Best beers in Honiton. keystone - 26 Jan 2010 15:07

Nice pub. Doesnt get overly crowded. Good selection of Beer & bottled lagers. Comfy chairs to relax in and sink a few jars. No idea what the food is like, but looks good. Charlie.Crocker - 24 Mar 2006 16:53
