Went to the Fir Tree last week to find it is now under new management, so the mangy dogs have gone. It's had a thorough clean and is looking really good, though the old charm hasn't gone (nor the excellent juke box!). Apparently they're going to start doing food in August. Definitely worth checking out again if you're in the Cowley/Iffley Road area and want a cosy, friendly, pleasantly quirky neighbourhood pub. Eden - 13 Jul 2007 11:01
This pub is gross. The last time I went, one of the dogs shat on the floor right in front of me. The landlady just laughed and wiped it up, which seems to suggest it was not the first time it happened. The dogs also jump on the tables when they are playing -filthy! And oh yes, the beer selection is unusually poor. Will not be going back. hepo - 12 Apr 2007 21:57
In the old Morrells days this was a great place. Now it is a sad parody of an English pub, full of junk shop rubbish and only serving Greene King's lamentable beers. One to avoid. Fiery_Jack - 25 Oct 2006 13:45
Great beer, well kept, although sometimes lacking in non-Greene King choices. All kinds of random stuff all over the walls, 2 regular friendly dogs add atmosphere. Nobody seemed to mind when I knitted in here. anonymous - 13 Feb 2006 19:59
