The Fir Tree does not open until 4pm on most days. So, we'd left this one until the end of our crawl. It's a Greene King pub with a strange layout on different levels. To get to the gents from the bar area, you have to go up some steps and then back down some more to get to them. The two sections of the pub are packed with items on the walls, with much of interest, especially if you're into Star Wars. I spotted a couple of items related to Everton (my football team, if you hadn't guessed). It turns out the landlord has similar tastes and it was only then I noticed he was sporting an Everton jacket! Ales were Yardbird & Heritage and Belhaven 1719 from the Greene King stable. Guests were Skinner's Betty Stogs & Kult Rebel. Nice and friendly place.

Solid Iffley Road boozer. Four real ales on. Good jukebox selection, semi-busy for a Saturday night and well-stocked on the spirit. Something 'studenty' about the place, but not in an obviously 'studenty' way. Barman was convivial. Would definitely drop in for a pint again.

A Greene King pub but not slavish to that brewery in its range of ales, this seems to be a decent student pub and I shall return. They advertise an indie night although Europe's 'Final Countdown' was blaring out on the day of our visit. A good neighbourhood option.

i have to say that i do have reservations about GK pubs, as most of us know that they are responsible for some cruel management decisions to staff and beers alike, BUT, i realy like this pub, when i was last in they had a fantastic pint of holdens golden glow, and a few days later yorkshire terrior, very well kept and in lovely condition, the staff are very welcoming, a true corner pub, well worth popping along to see whats going down.

Perhaps my favourite Oxford boozer. Friendly staff and the added bonus of a late bar at the weekend so middle aged degenerates can stay on the sauce without the disgrace of the disco. The beer is always well kept, but limited to the Greene King approved list, which is my only gripe. Well, apart from the prat who keeps putting the same four Springsteen songs on the jukebox over and over again every Friday and Saturday.
