| I UNDERSTAND THIS PUB HAS CLOSED NOW, WHAT A SHAME, BUT UNDERSTANDABLE REALLY. I USED TO POP IN A COUPLE OF TIMES A MONTH AS I WORKED AWAY A LOT, ALWAYS ENJOYED THE CARVERY AND THE QUIZ NIGHT IF I COULD MAKE IT. BUT MOST OF ALL I LOVED TO HEAR THE BANTER OF THE LOCALS AT THE BAR, AND IF HE WAS NOT TO BUSY ROB THE LANDLORD. HE WAS ALWAYS WELCOMING (A GOOD CHANGE AFTER THE PREVIOUS MISERABLE LANDLORD!) AND CREATED A VERY INVITING ATMOSPHERE IN THE PUB. UNFORTUNATLY IT ALL WENT DOWN HILL WHEN HE AND HANNAH LEFT, A RUN OF UNSMILING MANAGERS AND THE CRAWLING BACK IN OF THE UNWASHED LOUTS MADE THIS A NOT VERY NICE PLACE TO BE IN INDEED! I HOPE IT WILL NOT BE CLOSED PERMANENTLY, AND IT CAN BE TAKEN BACK TO THE WAY IT USED TO BE, BUT WHOEVER TRIES WILL HAVE A JOB ON THERE HANDS. AVB - 27 Nov 2007 15:28 |

| The best Sunday roast in Oxford, possibly the world, and cheap to boot. Beer is nothing special, but unimportant. The staff are friendly, some of the locals colourful. The building is quite pretty: full of stuffed fish (confusing for a pub named after hunting) with a carvery area made to look like a French rural cafe. thedts - 5 Sep 2006 01:54 |
