| Recently re-opened, this is a great pub, worth searching out. A couple of good local ales served by friendly staff, and a great wine list but all this pales beside the extremely high quality food. I had one of those meals with my wife in which we didn't speak for the duration, as it was far superior to our humdrum chatter. The last time we did that was at Le Gavroche. | This is a great place, just refurbished and reopened under new management in November 2008. The chef and his wife are both excellent cooks, with lots of experience in Michelin-starred kitchens. Great food, cooked impeccably. Not expensive and definitely worth a visit. tog - 12 Dec 2008 12:23 |
| great new pub, recently refurbished and offering great value for the standard of cooking, the chef's got some big city experience but is keeping it down to earth with a great coq au vin and perfectly cooked classic skate wing with brown butter, though you could make the trip just for the dessert menu. and bread is made in house, i urge you to try this place. pigface - 19 Nov 2008 15:18 |
| Good luck! Just reopened with great wine list and some superior food hope they make it work. glass_half_full - 17 Nov 2008 21:55 |
| Good food. Reasonable value. Attractive. Not large. Tucked away on Avon Valley back road. This pub was completely refurbished around 2000 by owner John Manser, retired chief of Robert Fleming Bank, who lives next door in Chisenbury Priory. It initially offered up-market wine bar fare but has adjusted its prices and range to a more practical level which now wins broad appeal. whitehorse - 24 Mar 2007 12:27 |
