Consensus seems to suggest that it ain't as bad as the Hamilton Hall. Well, that is very true, but think on... Would you rather spend your hard earned on two pints in a fetid wetherspoons beer canteen with the down and outs, or would you rather have one pint in a gutted out, stripped down and ponced up bar with the loud and preening Cityrati.

... or do you just move on to somewhere better?

Been in here a couple of times, mainly to watch the football. Not the largest pub in the world and it's almost impossible to navigate when it's full but it's decent enough.

Not too bad - better than I remember and a decent pint. Not much crumpet though which isn't great.

Bitter never that good but I keep going back: it's a good enough place to drink as the hoi polloi never really dare to venture in. Music is classic English: 60's/BritPop etc. Not noticed the trance in there myself.

Busy, noisy, can't remember what the prices were like... but incredible toilets and its not the Hamilton Hall.. Not a place to spend an evening though.
