user reviews of the Redfern Inn, Carlisle

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

new landlords who are taking an interest in the place and trying to make a go of it. Bit stuck as to bring pub into 21st cent as it's a listed building inside and out. More beer types on now and entertainment most nights and not the old style with police invited.Good luck to them

Another change of management, if its known to one or two locals as the Dreadfern, thats a shame.

Kentish - yes I guess it is, watch out for books relating to this sort of State Management architecture, of which this pub is a tribute to the leading architect of the scheme, Harry Redfern. There's a bowling green in use at the back too.

Friendly pub to have a few pints of 'Scotch' while waiting for the Chinese next door. Interesting decor, pitted brass and dark wainscoting, very 'Kentish' country pub feel. Big fireplaces and nice light through the windows of an early eavening. Colourful language from the barflies, thats just the women - who take a wager for the horses of a Friday. Definately worth a slog up the big hill on yr bike for.
