| Not a review exactly but a snippet of news. This potentially very good pub has, I hear, got a new licensee who is experienced and respected in the trade (well, that's what I'm told). His mission? | Visited the pub yesterday as was in the area for a mate's BBQ. Adnam's Broadside and Crouch Vale Brewer's Gold on offer. Opted for the former and was delighted and the quality, well kept and served. That said, everyone else in the pub seemed to be on Magner's 'cider' or fizzy lager, but I suppose we are in Essex.. | Good job with the renovation and nice to see some well-kept real ales, including straight from the barrel. Good service, too. Pity some of the clientele are still the same, as witnessed by the recent well-run beer festivals when most punters were still drinking lager and Magners! | This pub has just had a major amount of work done to it and has new owners, I understand that they the Barge at Battlesbridge and the Woodmans Arms at thundersley. The Crown is now a fantastic pub. Good real ales, lagers and the food is exceptional. They have really turned this one around, the staff are friendly, its just great, well done. jonneast - 12 Mar 2009 21:48 |
