good real ale selection .taylors landlord , black sheep, and thwaites origanal all perfect. serverd by friendly staff. the pub has 3 rooms a lounge where there is a tv. a tap. and a largr restraunt / function room. this is a good area for walking and they let you leave your car in the car park all day for £2 this is considerbly cheaper than the public car park. what isnt cheap is the price of the beer. £3.40 a pint. is bordering on extortionate, up the road in the crown a pint of theakstons was a quid cheaper.

I think I was in a different pub to the previous reviewers. The en suite room I stayed in was comfortable and clean. The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge was taking place so the bars were manic. Nevertheless, the bar service was efficient and the beers were good (Black Sheep, Thwaites and TT Landlord). Three of us ordered steaks and they arrived in good time, cooked to perfection. No problems whatsoever and would certainly again.

This pub is in a great location, especially for walking. That's the end of the good stuff. Bunk House is disgusting. Real Ale they have no idea how to keep. Staff at best monoslyabic, at worst rude and try to charge too much. Food acceptable as long as you order an hour before you feel hungry, and you dont want much choice. Decor, seating and general ambiance lousy. Shame it could be so nice but as most of their clientelle are tourists they clearly don't give a toss.

Not much in the way of ales here - but I did like the back room with its selection of stuffed animal heads. I thought this place has more of a pub feel than the Crown.

Stayed in the bunkhouse here as a base for the 3 Peaks walk and found it marginally better than a night in the car. Bunkhouse was cramped and lacked basic privacy (e.g. locks on toilet doors and no curtains on the unisex showers!) Pub itself run down, over-priced and the worst pub food i’ve ever tasted (and that’s saying something)- disgusting burnt re-heated microwaved stodge with chips, served by a moody teenager. There’s a lovely pub at the other end of the village called the Crown - don’t stay here - stay there, or at the campsite just down the road.
