Under new ownership and a new name since December 1st 2010. Now The Frog & Wicket, a sister pub to The Frog & Wicket at Eversley Cross. New menu, new staff and a new attitude! HampshireRoyal - 15 Feb 2011 16:16
Havent been here in a long time but did go the other night, what a shame. Very quiet, expensive but poor quality food, service ok until the landlord wanted to close up at 9.30pm!!! If you want a decent pint, warm welcome and can still get a drink after 10pm then I suggest the Coach - other pub in village. TRocket62 - 30 Jan 2010 16:08
We visited this pub on the evening of Friday 18th December 2009, i.e. the last Friday before Christmas, and there were only 3 tables occupied in the restaurant by 8.30 in the evening, one of which was ours. There were a couple of other people drinking in the pub. The landlord was pleasant, the pub looked lovely, but as the other people have said, something must be wrong! The one thing wrong when we were there was the interpretation of my menu choice - I thought "beef medallions in stilton sauce" sounded great. What I got, was 5 thin slices of what was probably roast / fried beef, under a mass of stilton sauce. At the time I wasn't sure I was correct in what I thought medallions were, so didn't complain, but as soon as I'd checked my recipe books, I emailed the landlord......................no reply!!!!! What a shame. MaggieKent - 21 Dec 2009 10:12
I visited the Saturday after you "maydave" and it was closed when i drove past mind you not sure if it does"nt open till 6. i have been before and like you the place was empty it is a shame because it a great looking pub inside with plenty of room and nicely decorated. Something is not right here! shame really could be a nice little earner winchesterclub - 5 Oct 2009 08:35
Sadly we visited this pub last saturday in September 2009 & instead of a packed & buzzing atmosphere, there were only 2 couples eating, other than that the pub was empty. The diners looked fed up & much food was left on plates. As for drinks, it must be the most expensive in Hampshire. We calculated that tonic water by volume, costs about £16 a pint! It needs a change I feel. maydave - 3 Oct 2009 18:27
