I visited this pub with some 9 friends and was bought a pint that smelt and tasted of pump cleaner. None of the rest of company would taste it having sniffed it. Grafton's Fairground Attraction was the brew in question. I asked for it to be changed and the bar maid insisted that it was meant to taste of 'antiseptic' and was unusual. Reading tasting notes says nothing about antiseptic and if the bar staff knew that it tasted vile should they not warn buyers? We will not be visiting again and unless they change I advise you not to either. Railway Drinker RailwayDrinker - 10 Apr 2011 13:57
A couple of minutes from the rail station. Good choice of real ales and a very friendly atmosphere. I would recommend a visit here and to the 3 Pigeons. anybody - 29 Sep 2010 18:51
Just a short walk up from the 3 Pigeons, the Pump Room is a valuable call on the way back to fax town centre. Good beer and a nice layout. Well worth a visit. Seve1974 - 24 Aug 2010 19:33
Boy I was glad to find this after severral false starts in and around Halifax. I sampled 5 out of the 7 ales available, and each was very nice. Very friendly staff and atmosphere, an oasis in the desert peteshovlin - 29 Mar 2009 19:24
Great pub with a constantly changing range of & or 8 well kept guest ales. A couple of years ago they had a beer festival to coincide with the main CAMRA one just up the road and had 30 beers on. Didn't have it last year for some reason. Two rooms, one to either side of the entrance door. The one on the left has some comfy seating and chairs whilst the one on the right is more bar stools etc. Loads of interesting photo's and bric-a-brac. It's a really good pub. We never miss this one when in Halifax. If you call in here and then walk a bit further on to the Three Pigeons you'll find enough different beers for anyone. ROBCamra - 25 Feb 2009 14:29
