There's always something happening here. Most weekends, now that its summer, there is a bbq, as well as a bouncy castle/waterslide for the kids, utilising the huge beer garden. The pub dog is absolutely gorgeous.

The most unwelcoming pub I've been in for years. Popped in for a pint whilst waiting for a cab and felt really uncomfortable. The place was messy, playing loud dance music, very brightly lit and the barmaid was far from welcoming. Pint of Butcombe was quite good, but I drank it in record time and waited outside. A shame as I was looking forward to visiting an old fashioned railway pub.

The place is definitely in the process of being done up, although it seems to be very much work in progress at the moment. The front bar has been spruced up with fresh paint and a few leather sofa's added, the back bar still has some work being done on it.

First impressions were not good, having to squeeze through a gaggle of smokers huddled in the porch. Someone should explain to the pub management that a porch counts as an enclosed space, and hence smoking is illegal.

This seems to be very much a bloke's pub, with lots of 20/30 year old guys displaying their tattoo's. I think a couple of women wandering in would feel a little uncomfortable. That said, they all seemed friendly enough, and there were a couple of ladies present (including a rather scary looking barmaid).

We sat out in the garden, which looks rather tatty, but it was a bit more peaceful than the pub (hint: to get to the garden, go through the door marked "toilets". That had us confused for a bit).

Beers on this occasion were Butcombe and Doom Bar. Ciders were Thatcher's Traditional, Thatcher's Gold and Butcombe.
