user reviews of the Abbey, Dentons Green

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Holts pub on the edge of St Helens with a couple of guest ales on too. The interior is reasonably impressive with multiple drinking areas. It was fairly busy too, with many locals watching Rugby League. The 2 Holts ales were their Bitter and Hat Trick. The other 3 ales were Bootleg Fools Gold, Wells Bombardier & Sharps Doom Bar. It was nice to find an open pub after my wasted trip to Crank. Moved on from here to the Cricketers Arms - seemingly St Helens' finest pub, but strangely not listed on here. I'll request it to be added.

Benefited hugely from a refurb a couple of years ago, went from being a dive to being a modern pub with decent beer.

Large well-kept Holts outlet with an outside drinking area. Reasonably-priced food, big screen shows sports events, rugby inevitably the most popular. As always with Holts prices are far less than other local pubs.

A nice, friendly pub that would be great as a first stop on a pub crawl. It's also ideal for a quiet night out with friends, as it shows sporting events and has a pool table.
