| It's far more modern on the inside than the outside. Late last year (2009) the beer garden was modernised - new decking, new garden tables, and and outside serving area (if I remeber right). Also there is a sectioned off area that serves Indian food - I'd recommend trying it. The drinks are your typical modern largers and bottled beers (not loads of bitters like the outside would suggest). | Hmm. Strange place! It's an Indian Restaurant and a pub. We arrived during the day because we had booked a room for the night and it looked lovely. When we came back at night, it was packed out with people sitting down eating and also standing around drinking. Very friendly place and had good conversations about football as our team Hull City had just won the playoff final to gain promotion to the Premiership. Everyone congratulating us and wanting to talk about the game. Then we went upstairs to our room...Oh My God what a hovel. Total contrast with the pub/restaurant downstairs, it was truly awful and the worst thing was that the pub had VERY loud music blasting through the ceiling until 2.45am. Not conducive to sleep! | Although old customers will still recognise the basic layout, it's now a completely different place as far as 'atmosphere' goes! For the first time in about 20 odd years it looks CLEAN inside! Its very modern & minimalist interior is easy on the eye, very smart & you can eat fine Indian food or just have a drink if you wish. There are large screens for the footie too & often some sort of entertainment on high days & holidays. Staff are friendly & Ronnie on the door is a great asset. A lovely guy! | Horrible pub, haven't been there since about 1975, BUT was where Elton John, as local lad Reg Dwight from Potter Street started his professional career, playing piano on a Saturday night as a 16 year old for 10 bob and all they could collect in a bucket, chaperoned by his admiring mum, Sheila and her boyfriend Fred (always called Derf by Reg).
