Thought this was a gay bar until we got chatting with the "locals"

Really cosy - wife fell in love with the gay barman/landlord?? She didn't want to leave!

Friendly

Amazing food! Garlic bread was strong (just how it should be)!

I agree, with the other contributers of the thread.... best grub in town!

Been here a few times over the years.... used to have a chunky barman who was "laugh a minute" but didn't see him there this time? Did he elope with a local lad?

went in for a meal. the pub was packed out which is a good sign. my ale was a bit iffy so i changed to guinness. the food was really good, probably the best we've had in looe. nice atmosphere when the pub is free from loud, middle class arseholes who love the sound of their own voice. this particular group were actually driving customers away they were so obnoxious.

Good pub and good food at a good price. When the Doom Bar is on form, there is no-where better!!!! A good all year round pub.... watch you head on the way in (if you want some entertainment, sit in the window next to the door at the height of the tourist season!) OUCH!

Decent pub - seems to do quite a bit of food and caters for visitors and locals. In the off-season when we were there it was a bit lacking in atmosphere compared to the Fishermans. But I liked it and the Doom Bar was in excellent condition - possibly best I have tasted it.

Had to laugh when it ws £1.33 for a half - i can't remember when I last paid an amount not rounded to the nearest 5p - but good on them - it was £2.65 for a pint so the prices are fair.

Would definitely visit again.
