My girlfriend and i visited this pub after a long wet day on the moors. It was probabaly the worse pub we visited that day (I can't believe how many pubs are in this area!) We felt a little uncomfortable with locals giving us evils the whole time. Not really for us 4/10 montie49 - 11 Sep 2011 11:31

This pub used to be a very nice place for famlies and now it has gone down hill thanks to the landlord and me and my family heard him slagging off his staff to other staff and customers bitchoftheyear - 31 Oct 2010 21:36
Oh My Goodness! I have never, ever complained about a meal before, but feel very strongly compelled to warn the world about this "pub". We received a leaflet through our door boasting of the wonderful new menu, under new ownership etc. It sounded very promising indeed. However my gut feeling upon arrival was "let's have a swift half and leave" but my very magnanimous husbund was all for "let's give it a go, it's important to support local buinesss.". A pint of Stowford Press was 40p more than in our local pub in Ashburton, the surroundings were a bit dire, but nevertheless we stayed. We didn't push the boat out and ordered a lasagne and a steak and kidney pie. Upon our arrival the chef was sat in the bar watching "Kelly's heroes" with two locals. After our food order was placed he took 10 minutes to go to the kitchen. 45 minutes after our oder was placed the "food " arrived. Well, unfit for human consumption was an understatement. Unused to complaining we looked at each other and wondered could we pluck up the courage to complain. Well it was so bad we did. The chef was lovely - he brought out the landlord who clearly hasn't done the customer care course. In fact the scene whcich ensued was reminiscent of a scent from Fawlty Towers. The landord was so rude it was comical. We walked out - OMG so out of character for us ! We went to An Ashburton pub to eat instead and then went on to to a party - it's amazing how many people we spoke to tonight already know of the bad reputation this pub has -it's a shame that we didn't. denzil1964 - 16 Oct 2010 23:46
Turned up soaked through after cycling over Dartmoor in the pissing rain. We were made to feel very welcome and the landlord let us dry our stuff by the fire as we supped our pints of Otter and ate our sandwiches. After the lunchtime crowd had passed a steady stream of locals came in for afternoon or after work pints and chatted away with the bar staff. Nice local pub. cheesyal - 3 Oct 2010 03:55
