I have eaten here once before but only had a sandwich and chips there but ate here with my husband on a busy Sunday recently. There was a warm welcome, a lovely fire and we were seated immediately. The staff were friendly and efficient and the food was wonderful. ..the portion size was fantastic and i look forward to coming going back soon!! i really enjoyed eating in such a lovely looking pub and look forward to going back.

Stayed at this pub/hotel over the weekend. Was very impressed by the welcome from the manager and staff. The room was clean and comfortable, the food was outstanding and the roaring fire in the bar area was most welcome on a cold day. Would thoroughly recommend a visit if you are passing.

Stayed here this weekend and would strongly recommend this pub/hotel. A very relaxing visit. The establishment has clearer been refurbished to a very high standard. Fantastic hospitality and amasing food. The breakfast is so good you'll not need to eat until the evening. Would recommend the sharing platters even if you just pop in for a drink.

I disagree with the last comments completely - the character has been put back into the place and it now has a great bar worth spending a night in. As for the food - 6 of us went in - had 6 different meals and they were all fantastic - the burger my wife had was clearly home made - at last somewhere that provides real burgers and the added bonus that everything was hot (including the plates) and the staff were friendly. So good to see somewhere that isn't doing 5 meals for £5 - quality is and always will be worth paying for - keep up the good work

Hotel now taken over by new management, previously the pub suffered from high prices and below average food.
Pub has been revamped with all of the character removed to become a polished bar. Looks and feels like an empty box, hopefully if the re painted fire gets going in the winter it may recover some of it's historical character.
Drinks prices have come down to match the competition and a Portuguese lager added, which some drinkers liked.
Food has continued to be below standard, cold plates, cold vegetables, cheep bap on the burger and poor presentation. Bye the way the Haddock on the menu is smoked, some people would like to know up front.
Considering this is their first week of business you would think they would make an effort, very sad. Went in on the evening of the Bank Holiday, which should not have made a difference.
