Lovely pub; kind and helpful staff and a warm and cosy environment! Unsurprising it istypically packed out Emzlidale - 14 Mar 2010 22:34
This pub is really frinedly with a great attitude from staff. Good beers and the wine is priced really well. Gets really busy late on with the late licence and you never have to wait too long at the bar despite it being rammed. During the daytime this place is quiet and realxing (no jukebox/TV) just great ales, eclectic music (landlord's choice), a warm fire and really friendly and talkative staff. I love the place and reccommend it to anybody. Day time is for all ages, late night is for the students/younger local crowd. BigGreg - 31 Oct 2008 18:25
I only go in here because it's the only place to go when everywhere else has closed. Can't say I would go in for any other reason. Normal Canterbury prices (expensive), average quality, staff are really a good bunch though. Creg - 18 Sep 2008 12:34
I have to agree with higgsboson, this certainly seems to have gone downhill. Although I've only been there the once I made a point of visiting due to reviews I'd read elsewhere, eg; Good Pub Guide. The night we visited there was only one other person in there! They'd made an effort with candles on each table, but the whole place was tired looking and slightly smelly. Two of the beers were off leaving only Greene King IPA, and they appeared to have some interesting lagers on tap, but again the San Miguel was off. But at £6 for a pint of IPA and a bottle of Corona, I for one certainly wont be back! Blackthorn - 21 Aug 2007 15:57
| Smallish bar, in street opposite the Thwarter. Quiet, low key bar, with none of the binge drinkers. Nothing spectacular. Nice enough atmosphere at around 19:00 on a sunny evening. One guy behind the bar, and only the locals were in (small group, something to do with the Thwarter). Several selections on tap, including Becks, Staropomen, and Applegates Cider.
