Called in here for a pint recently and couldn't get one. They were busy which is fine, but having waited a good few minutes for my turn the landlady/manageress who had been talking at the end of the bar and leaving all the work to one poor lad suddenly looked around, went round the bar, served a bloke who was stood behind me with whatever he was drinking (she didn't need to ask him) AND THEN WENT AND STOOD AT THE END OF THE BAR AGAIN! Don't even think of going in if you're thirsy. ROBCamra - 16 Dec 2008 10:40
This is an OK pub in a very popular location making it quite a mission to get served during busy periods. Pride, Black Sheep, Rev. James, Frulli and premium lagers were all available during my visit and I found the staff to be friendly even though they were very rushed. I think that there are better pubs nearby, but this place is OK for a few swifties. Strongers - 16 Dec 2008 10:30
Good meeting place in Oxford circus, varied mix of customers all surprisingly friendly for a west end pub. Service was a bit slow, but the Taylors Landlord was in excellent condition. Monday night is comedy night in the cellar bar and great value for only a fiver. Good range of ciders on draught too. wellinformed - 2 May 2008 14:31
Nearly always busy in here and at least they do decent cider for a London pub (Westons and Addlestones on draught), but previous reviewer is right - service is far too slow. Haven't tried the food - not sure if I will! JKIRK - 2 Feb 2008 16:57
Gone totally downhill due to the utterly inept management who choose to completely under-staff the bar. The obviously incapable duty manager also seemed to have a fear of actually serving anyone, thus leaving a single solitary member serving the entire establishment. Also witnessed food being left on the counter for easily 5 minutes. A friends food (chicken) was raw in the middle. My veggie burger was slushy and slightly burnt. Avoid at all costs, at least until they fire the manager. urbanite55 - 7 Jan 2008 00:02
