Lovely oldy worldy pub on the main Totnes to Newton Abbot road.
Cosy inside with many different seating areas and a large restaurant too.
Good selection of ales straight from the barrel behind the bar and also an unusual kids style sweet shop behind the bar as well.
Good outside area with pleasant views across to dartmoor.
Worth a visit for sure.

9/10

A quick pit stop here then on home to totnes. 1st time and now the last. We walked in the door to find nobody behind the bar. When service arrived I was presented with a very warm, flat, cloudy pint of otter. The bar person had done a houdini on me so I left to never return. It was early so I asume it must havebeen the 1st pint of the day. Little tip:- Pour of a pint nefore service.

Called in for a meal as we were staying at a caravan site up the road, and enjoyed both the meal and the Bass and Otter beers. Popular pub on a busy main road, and most of the tables were reserved. Wonderful soup and a large steak pie. At my request they served the pie on the plate instead of in the pot. Good staff seeing to customers requests.

We visited here just before midday on a Friday and we were the first people there. By the time we were leaving, several parties were arriving for lunch. The bar is a great old-fashioned experience with stone floors and wooden benches. Otter Bitter and Draught Bass are serevd direct from the casks behind the bar. The cider is Aspalls.

Quite a good old pub this on the main road between newton abbot and totnes. This is a pub ive wanted to call into for many years, and finally i got the chance to.Its very old indeed with a very old musky smell to it,the second you walk through the door you notice it.Serving Bass and otter ale the ale quality is very good.Food prices are silly really, but people will pay the prices as it seems to be where buisness folk like to meet up.The old sign outside painted on the wall says famous for food,it may well be but sadly overpriced for what you get in my opinion but a superb drinking pub none the less.
