| I am lucky to live so close to this place, it's an absolute gem. Great food and not too expensive. Guest ales on tap mean you don't have to suffer the same old premium lager rubbish. Lack of a darts board meant I gave a 9 rather then a ten, but enjoyed the board games that were on offer. Really recommend this place, and I will continue to go here again and again. | "Eaten here once - can't fault it really although the souffle was beyond piping hot " ================================================================ Souffle??? I've heard it all now. Some bentjob mincing on about souffle on a BEER site. Pat_Bateman - 24 Nov 2010 11:50 |
| Eaten here once - can't fault it really although the souffle was beyond piping hot - patience required! Extensive wine list with a range of prices to suit all, polite and efficient but no nonsense service. Posting here in the interests of balance as I despair at the comment about them not picking out the rocket leaves. If the chef had indeed done this mind-numbing task the customer could then have chanced across a fragment of rocket leaf, or complained about the chef picking through the salad (I cannot think a chef would have an implement suitable for the purpose). And in any case, asking any sub-Michelin restaurant to pick out particular leaves for you is a bit precious in my humble opinion. This should not put off anyone from a superb local pub - somewhere I'd be happy to travel several miles to and great if you've been to Borough Market and don't mind a 10 minute walk to get away from the increasingly hectic surroundings there. c_t - 15 Nov 2010 18:48 |
| Fabulous! I really like this pub. Recently renovated, the interior is gorgeous and the food is too. A new favourite! DaisySE1 - 30 Sep 2010 10:32 |
| We were excited find a 'new' local bar/restaurant but unfortunately, the first visit may just be our last. The food I ordered wasn't gastro-pub standard and the manger was just rude. I ordered a black pudding, bacon and tomato salad. I asked for the rocket to be left out and instead of the rest of the mixed leaves got a massive pile of cos lettuce. It was easy to pick the other ingredients out as there wasn't that much of them so when I left a huge pile of lettuce the manager asked if there was anything wrong. Instead of accepting that what was offered was a bit rubbish and that his customer wasn't happy, he began to blame me for not saying anything beforehand. I was gobsmacked, especially when he walked off without a word of apology. We got £4 knocked off the steep £9 price. For a new business, this isn't the way to treat customers and locals at that, who will always spread the word if it's any good. phil_waterloo - 9 Aug 2010 12:32 |
