I recently had the pleasure of visiting this pub,it was during the weekday afternoon,I was for a time,the only Customer in the pub,but there were two bar maids on duty,this gave me an opportunity to check out the pub's excellent facilities,which include;

1.Live Music at weekends.

2.Conservatory on the back which doubles as a carvery restaraunt on Sundays,

3.Excellent Beer Garden at the back

4.A top of the pops Digital Jukebox,enabling one to play any top 40 song going right back to 1952.

5.Very friendly and attentitive bar staff.

There is also a Pool Table.

I visit Shenfield approx four times a year on holidays and frequent this pub everyday, i find the owners very courteous, generous and friendly, bar staff are very obliging and the locals are great to socialize with, the food is excellent and the beers are great, cant wait for my next visit.

i have been a regular in this pub for several years now and it is probably the nicest pub in the area.
the staff are all friendly and courteous and the landlord's always got a funny quip or two.
the food is amazing i dont think i've missed a sunday carvery in about a year and the seafood nights on the first weds of every month are unbelievable!
a pub i highly recomend either for a quiet drink, a meal, or awesome live music of a saturday night!!

Been drinking in this pub on and off for years, and the service has never changed since the current owner took over. I have had to walk out on may occasions due to the lack of service (and watched many others do the same). The owners are terrible and unfortunatly it reflects on the rest of the pub in every way, along with that it's expensive!! shame as it has alot of potential.
