user reviews of the Blowing Stone Inn, Kingston Lisle

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Popped in on a Thursday night only intending to grab a pint - ended up staying for food. Four real ales on hand pump, two Ringwood, one Morland (Greene King) and one Plain Ales. Beer fairly well kept, but if I'm being picky the Ringwood was a little too close to the bottom of the barrel.

On to the food - belly of pork with apple, red cabbage and potato. Spot on, really good food for a cold winters night. Mains not cheap at 12-15 but the quality of the offering reflected this and the food certainly passed the "better than I could do" test.

Look forward to visiting again. And no issues with staff or service. A friendly, warm welcome and good, attentive service.

On a recommendation from a friend I took my wife for a meal on Tuesday evening and found it was their 'specials night'. Although they were very busy they managed to fit us is and having read a negative review we were a little concerned we had made a mistake. I have to say we need not have worried. The beer was excellent, I fancied everything on the menu and the wine was great value. The staff were attentive and efficient not only that they were smiling all the time! We can't wait to go back and recommend it highly!

We stopped by one Friday evening for a drink and was very disappointed with the lack of customer service. Not one smile, please or thank you from the person serving me, who I assumed was the landlord! Food smelt good and my partner enjoyed his Guinness, but we won't be going back or recommending it!!

Great place for lunch when taking in the Uffington White Horse, Wayland's Smithy and the associated part of the Ridgeway.
