This was a favourite haunt in my Oxford dayss, the Youngs connection being the big plus. Studenty? Who cares - I always thought the student population in Oxford simply added to the buzz. Recommended.

I had a few pints of very nice Waggle Dance in the Beer Garden at the back of here on Sunday and had a very pleasant time. The moody barman from my last visit was absent and the barman that was working kept me topped up and was friendly enough.

The food looked good, but we missed it by 5 minutes as the kitchen shut at 16:00.

It is still very expensive so not a good choice of pub for a session but nice for a few civilised beers. I have upped its rating from my last visit.

Above average Youngs pub. Pleasant wooden interior. Had Deuchars IPA as well as the standard Young's range when I visited. Can get a bit studenty, but for my money a better pub than Young's main Oxford pub the King's Arms.

Odd that people have criticised a lack of music, saying that that makes the pub dull. Maybe if you actually have decent company, you wouldn't want to disguise their presence with music to prevent conversation?

Good pub and but would have a much better atmosphere if there was some background music. I have heard many times when people have suggested to go here "yeah we could do, it's just a bit dull without music". Not so bad when it's busy, more so for a monday after work beverage...
