went to this pub the other day food was really nice , great atmosphere ,staff were friendly and welcoming, the German Sheppard was playful and child friendly , the customers were friendly and bubbly. when the other user commented about the youths , where else are they meant to go out and smoke? the smoking area is out the front of the pub. we are going to go back soon as we enjoyed ourselves and the pub is worth a visit if your near jlsmith1234 - 27 Feb 2011 22:02
On arrival I was met by a group of yoofs and a large German Shepherd dog gathered around the entrance smoking and looking unhospitable, but I have to say that first impressions, on this occasion, were unfounded. Inside was pleasant, and the barmaid was friendly and polite. I had an excellent pint of Piddle, washed down with a similar amount of Palmers. There were teenagers being loud around the pool table, but it wasn't anything untoward and I didn't feel in any way uncomfortable despite being the oldest person in there by at least 2 decades. It's a pity the last few posters' experiences weren't as positive as mine, but I note that they are all single posters who made their comments on the same day and wonder whether, given the implied nature of the occasion of their visit, how objective they've been. I note in particular that Mrjslater had all of 28 minutes to read the previous post before changing his mind about coming here. Looking back a year from that date, I see that James55Westhead, someone who has reviewed a reasonable number of pubs, had a much more positive experience. For what it's worth,I'm happy to go back next time I'm passing because it's a normal village pub with no frills that sells decent beer. ETA - 24 Sep 2009 12:19
Before i came to this site, I was actually considering going to this Pub. now that I have read the comments, I am not going no where near this pub!. looks like i be taking my family to the The Coach and Horses at Winterborne Abbas instead! Mrjslater269 - 20 Jul 2009 14:02
I agree with everyone below! the staff have no Customer Service Skills whatsoever!! they were really rude to me!! a big no no for this pub! Terry_Smith209 - 20 Jul 2009 13:34
Fact: My Grandfather (who recently suffered a tragic loss), my mother (who recently suffered a tragic loss) and my Aunt (who recently suffered a tragic loss) all entered this establishment yesterday (Sunday 19th July 2009). Fact: The staff decided to serve my Grandfather in a degrading and appalling manner, which is a show of disgraceful customer service levels as well as a shocking no existent amount of respect to a PAYING customer. Fact: When an explaination from my mother was offered to the staff who served them, the customer service and customer respect fell to unfortunatly lower levels. Opinion: I don't think that anyone should even consider using their services ever, unless they have no self respect, or if they do not plan to actually pay for their meal. Fact: I will NEVER visit this establiment EVER. Fact: I will NEVER let anyone I know eat at this esablishment EVER. John_Galloway - 20 Jul 2009 13:12
