| Visited there on Saturday and were more than happy with everything they had to offer. 5 of us ate and were all impressed with our meals - good solid pub grub and very reasonably priced. Only tried the Butcombe ale but it was superb. Also found the bar man and waiting staff to be friendly and helpful. Thoroughly recommend this pub whether it's from a boat or if you're passing. | Grumpy barman and a very unwelcome reception sent alarm bells ringing. Carrying my pint all the way down to the river before tasting it was a mistake as it tasted of pipe cleaner. Overall a great disapointment. HappyHippo - 1 Jun 2008 10:00 |
| Visited wholely on the basis of the last review. While generally I can see why people recommend it (the barman was friendly, and in the summer I imagine it's quite idyllic to sit outside) I thought it was fairly run-of-the-mill. Nice enough, but a little scruffy and basic for my taste. I wouldn't say it was a bad pub at all, just not really what I was expecting, or hoping for. Sorry. parkhillian - 14 Feb 2007 20:06 |
| A traditional English pub in the best style. Good beer, good food, a very pleasant landlord and staff and reasonable car park. Came across it by chance looking for lunch with my wife and we were both delighted with it. local131 - 23 Nov 2006 14:42 |
| Haven't been here for years, but it still sticks in my mind as one of the best Thames-side pubs that I've been to. Very welcoming to holiday cruisers. Good food, good atmosphere. I must go back again and see if it's still lovely. RobMcC - 3 Mar 2006 15:19 |
