Very much out of the way though was easy to find with a "brown sign" pointing off the main road. Beer was good and the food fine; open all day Sunday and cooking lunch until 16:00 which is great if you are running late like we were. Felt like a real English pub with inglenook fireplace, traditional furniture and nice beer garden out the back

Ventured in here on a weekday evening recently and was pleasantly surprised. Lovely location (hidden down the end of a lane), wooden scrubbed floors, comfortable layout and low key decor (not a horse brass in sight), friendly staff who were very attentive, really great food (traditional English - more home cooked than gastro eg liver with loads of yummy mashed potato and gravy, good steaks with 'proper' chips and salad) all cooked to order, decent beer. Given the night the restaurant side was empty but the bar was perfect to eat in (small and fairly cosy) and several locals were in.

Not crowded on a Bank Holiday Saturday evening.
