Lovely old pub with well kept Brakspears and a Gloucester local beer. Visited on a BH Monday lunchtime and service was quick and friendly. Food was good and served in good time despite a pub packed with folk eating. Ideal location if you're between Gloucester and Oxford.

Didn't have a meal but found this a very atmospheric and characterful country pub that I would certainly call in again if in the area.

Booked a table for 4 on a Sunday lunch time and arrived to be told "Oh yes we have your name here", handed a small board with it on and told to "go and find a table" Am I missing something about the term 'booked a table'? Food was average canteen style and service OK. Could not really understand the Pub of the Year prize. Must have been a bad year!

had a table for 10 ,5 had a cooked dinner whick was very dry and highly priced at over £11,one had omlette which tasted like plastic and a very well done steak was sent back twice because it was very red with a bit of blood and not even done medium so we gave up on it ,overall lovely pub but food very expensive and well below average

Given the very mixed reviews for this pub, one wonders how it won Pub of the Year 2009 from the Good Pub Guide?
