Lovely old pub with well kept Brakspears and a Gloucester local beer. Visited on a BH Monday lunchtime and service was quick and friendly. Food was good and served in good time despite a pub packed with folk eating. Ideal location if you're between Gloucester and Oxford. thewickingman - 7 May 2012 18:51
Didn't have a meal but found this a very atmospheric and characterful country pub that I would certainly call in again if in the area. Heatonian - 14 Sep 2010 22:51
Booked a table for 4 on a Sunday lunch time and arrived to be told "Oh yes we have your name here", handed a small board with it on and told to "go and find a table" Am I missing something about the term 'booked a table'? Food was average canteen style and service OK. Could not really understand the Pub of the Year prize. Must have been a bad year! decerning - 25 Apr 2010 09:48
had a table for 10 ,5 had a cooked dinner whick was very dry and highly priced at over £11,one had omlette which tasted like plastic and a very well done steak was sent back twice because it was very red with a bit of blood and not even done medium so we gave up on it ,overall lovely pub but food very expensive and well below average spoooff - 12 Dec 2009 16:58
Given the very mixed reviews for this pub, one wonders how it won Pub of the Year 2009 from the Good Pub Guide? grovetown - 30 Nov 2009 09:38
