Not been in for 8 years, but not really a lot changed, thank goodness, apart from a seating area added. Beer still excellent, but busy even at a Tuesday lunchtime.

My first pub in Hexham (I say Hexham, but it's a few miles outside the centre) was the Dipton Mill Inn. Set in a dip in the road, it's a lovely location. Leave your mobile phone at home, as there no chance of a signal here. That leaves the pub to focus on conversation, decent ales and cider and also decent food. The Hexhamshire Brewery is on site and all ales were from them - Devil's Elbow, Cragnook Well & Whapweasel. The cider was Sandford Orchards Devon Mist. I enjoyed a nice and unusual curry here, as Saturday was curry night. Great atmosphere. Worth making the effort to seek out.

Paid a visit on the strength of the reports. Beers were excellent but not at all impressed by steak pie with a stick on microwave crust.

Popped in here on a sunny weekday lunchtime on my travels through Northumberland. What a treat, it's the brewery tap for the Hexhamshire brewery and they had six ales on offer. Managed to sample five (halves of course!), all very nice too. Interior is quaint with a single small bar and comfy tables & chairs for drinkers & diners alike, as well as a sunny garden out back. Food was tasty as well. Definitely recommend it if you're in the area.
