| Was in this pub several times over the weekend and had a good time each one. Good food, reasonable prices, friendly staff especially upstairs. Great views from the upstairs informal restaurant. | Avoid. The ale is pretty good and on first impressions this place looks promising but, sadly, the terrible food and service lets it down. I've been twice at lunchtime midweek and will never go again. The first time it took well over an hour to get the food we ordered. The food itself was ok but nothing special considering the price. On the second visit I reluctantly ordered a simple burger and chips. This was much quicker to arrive but it was quite literally burnt to a cinder and inedible. Nor was mine the only one. Every plate I saw leave the kitchen looked the same. How a 'chef' can have the nerve to put that on a plate and send it to a table is beyond me. The attitude from the surly, stressed out staff completes the picture. This may or may not be purely due to their inability to handle the lunchtime rush but is that an excuse now really?
