MY HUSBAND AND I VISITED THE PUB JUST AFTER XMAS A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON AFTER SHOPPING IN THE SALES, WE DID USE THIS PUB BEFORE IT WAS RECENTLY TAKEN OVER, FIRST IMPRESSION ON ENTERING WAS I HAD WALKED INTO "IKEA" NOT A COMFORTABLE OR RELAXING FEEL, SOMETHING NOT QUITE RIGHT, WE THEN ORDERED SUNDAY ROAST, ABSOLUTELY AWFUL AND NOT WORTH THE £18.00 IT COST FOR 2, AND DEFINATELY NOT HOME COOKED MORE LIKE BOILED IN THE BAG, WHEN THE BAR WOMEN CAME TO PICKUP THE PLATES SHE SAID ANYTHING WRONG AS THERE WAS MOST OF THE DINNER STILL ON THE PLATES, I SAID IT WASNT VERY NICE AND MY HUBBY ALSO SAID EVERYTHING ABOUT IT WAS AWFUL, THE REACTION WAS A SHRUG OF THE SHOULDERS, THIS CERTAINLY ISNT THE WAY TO REACT WHEN YOU ARE BEING TOLD THE FOOD IS TERRIBLE, BY CUSTOMERS, WOULD NEVER EAT IN THERE AGAIN,

A nice, welcoming pub with a friendly landlord (or at least I presume he is the landlord). We've been frequenting this pub on a Sunday evening on and off for the last couple of months and they've always been hospitable and shown an interest in us.

Beers: seems to always be Green King IPA, Sharp's Doom Bar and Adnams' Broadside. Covers all bases. Doom Bar is especially tasty. Beers are well looked after and always taste like they should. Average price (3.30 a pint).

Food has yet to be tried, but looks reasonable (though probably not made on the premises).

Has big screens, so if you don't enjoy your sport you may want to avoid on sports nights. They're not on all the time.

Would recommend!

I visited in 2010 on a Saturday lunch time. The interior was quite tired looking without the quaint well worth charm. Choice of beer poor and the music was strangley loud since there were a few people in the pub. One drink was enough and that's a bench mark of any pub as i enjoy my beer! I live fairly locally, too many better pubs to make any effort to return.

A friend told us the food was good so we went to try it for lunch and were very disappointed. Serving staff quite friendly, but choice of beers very limited. Food was mediocre; certainly didn't look or taste home - made. Someone, probably the Licensee, sat on a bar stool chatting loudly to a companion and every other word rhymed with "duck"
This visit was early this year: maybe things have changed now, but we won't bother to go back because there are better options around.

Great pub but beers going down hill fast, when it's good it's very good but half the time it's IPA and Bass only. Foods good value, great sunday roast.
