I can’t understand previous reviews where difficulty has been encountered in finding the brewery. The tour currently costs £6.00 and there is a gift shop, and a comfortable private members’ bar, where you can have a couple of halves prior to the tour, and they are more than happy to serve you a pint or two after at around £2.65 a pint.

The tour guide was a fellow called Mick who was rather entertaining and reminded me of a character played by Sir Ian McKellen in a northern-based “soap opera”. He did have a tendency to drift off subject quite often and I was on the last tour of the day which might explain something.

Informative, entertaining and fresh tasty beer – what more do you want? 8/10.

Visited recently, first attempt was aborted as they had a corporate do on! However the owner was very good and said he'd see me right the next day. Next day went on the beer tour having secured reduced entrance fee at one of the breweries pubs. Very interesting and informative tour. Free drink after the tour. As you would expect the beer was in superb condition. Very friendly, chatty staff. Will definately visit again. And the owner did see me right after the disapointment of the previous day. Ghost Ale is a particular favourite!

Took a while to find - walking directions on street signs seemed to peter out. But once located, well worth the effort. Didn't try the bewery tour, as from past experience the best bit is the beer at the end anyway. Comfortable and friendly place with good character

Really enjoyed this. Went on the tour with the brewer, which was interesting, and the student barman was a sound bloke.

Needless to say, the beer was top notch.

Well worth a visit, and discounts for Camra members!

Visited last summer. Took a little while finding the place but glad I did. Was impressed with the friendliness of the staff. The guy who showed us round was doing his first tour so was understandably nervous yet got all the points across in an entertaining manner.
The bar has a homely feel to it. Maybe not the sort of place to go unless you're doing the tour. When I visited it in the early afternoon it was pretty quiet although apparently it has hosted parties in the evenings.
The beer needless to say was excellent quality!
