A micro-brewery with a visitor centre, offering brewery tours, a gift shop, and members bar (which is open to visitors on the brewery tours). The bar named the tap room offers York Brewery regular and seasonal beers along with yellow fizzy stuff dispenced under gas and various spirits/soft drinks. The rear room is furnished with comfy chairs sofas and low tables. The bar area has high tables with stools. The visitor centre is well worth a visit for visitors to York. Be warned though, this is a private members club and although the staff will normally offer casual visitors (who are not on a brewery tour) the opportunity to try a beer it is not an open bar. The good side though is membership for those living outside the York area is only £3 pa. What a bargain! t.stains - 16 Mar 2008 17:26
Not a bad little spot worth a visit with a pint of beer included in two halves if you take the tour - Can honestly say though is one for the real ales fans as too much of the stuff would make me sick - very froiendly surroundings and brewery staff make a good spot. zamora250 - 27 Apr 2007 22:53
How many good pubs are there in this town? after living in exile in the southwest for sometime I was amazed on my return to the northeast at how many real pubs there are serving a decent pint. Very comfortable and pleasant place to drink. mothola - 6 Feb 2007 13:05
Pleasant, relaxing - and one is able to sample the many delights from the brewery in peace. dirigent - 30 Oct 2006 09:56
The brewery has a nice upstairs bar, heavily labelled "members and tour guests only". That's OK, you're just on an after hours tour, it's just a licensing requirement. York's beer is pretty good, and if you've brought some heathens with you, they do have a tap or two of nasty cold fizzy stuff too. swcooper - 25 Aug 2006 20:48
