Visited this pub as we were taking our dao for a walk nearby so decided to have lunch before we went. We chose this pub as we could sit in the beer garden with our dog. the food arrived very quickly but in terms of quality was poor. the gammon was more fat than meat, very poor for £11.95. next time we will try the hare and hounds up the road, if that's no good the we will have to revert to our favourite, The Royal Oak at Hooksway.

Ps. after complaining to the manager he was very apolagetic and offer a 50% discount for our group to use, so we will let know when we get some food how it is thanks Peter

We do regular walks around west sussex, www.in-dex.co.uk and one evening on curry night we did so having telephoned and booked in person for a table but arrived to be told they had no record of this. They got a table in the skittle room for us 12, took our money but then run out of curry, said they could make more but a dozen or so cyclists were booked and would be served first when they ever they turned up so it could be a long wait. Needless to say we got a refund and went to the Hare and Hounds nearby in Stoughton which was very nice. Shame the Barley Mow has been ok in the past but the attitude was we really don't care if you stay or go which in this recession hit time can't be a very wise move, doubt we will take our group of over a 100 members there again.. as they made us feel like an incovience to them. Peter.

A group of us visited this pub one evening after a walk. The beer and wine were fine, but we were very disappointed with the food, service and manager's attitude. It was curry night and various curries were served buffet style. Unfortunately those of us who had a curry found it to be barely warm. On complaining to the young waiter (who didn't appear to be very well trained), he dithered and seemed unsure how to handle the problem. When we asked for the manager he came over only to say that the curry had been served all evening without anyone complaining that it wasn't hot (temperature). When we protested that it was definitely not hot he shrugged his shoulders and walked off. Nothing was offered in the way of recompense for our disappointment. The meals cooked to order were OK however but it is not somewhere I would visit again.

Good jazz on the third Tuesday of the month. Food seemed to be not overpriced, drinks definately not so.
