One of the best pubs in Chorlton. Great for real ales; always got some guest ales on, some good some not so good. Would like to see them selling a few more dark beers.

Best Pub in Chorlton. It's always busy, even on a week night early doors. Interior nicely scruffy
Fantastic real ale (big range of Marble and a few guests)
Decent range of bottles - Belgian favourites Chimay, Duvel etc)
They're even dog friendly

Guardian reading crowd of a certain age.

Being a Guardian reader of a certain age, this wasn't really a problem for me.

One barmaid was friendly and useless, the other less cahatty, but far more efficient.

Beer wasn't all that, in fairness, but had a good crack even so.

A nice bar, good atmos even though the people are a little skitish, I went in there with a friend of mine who is a bit of an ale can and he scared nearly everyone in the place, but the bar staff still had a laff with it. The beer on tap aint to hot but the bottled stuff is good value and a good range. Well worth a look before you head of somewhere else, but not a place id recommend for the long slog.

someone else said 'not for the younger generation'... what do they think the 'younger generation' are looking for? 'funky' lighting, plastic chairs and alcopops? hmm...
the marble's great.. tasty, changing ales, snacks from the unicorn and a faintly shambolic, warm and lovely atmosphere
