I visited the Hatch during the Abinger Fayre too, and was similarly surprised to see it so empty, but was I? Overpriced food, bad service and sometimes very variable beers, although on this occasion my Fortyniner was top notch! I think people have voted with their feet, IN DROVES. Come on Bill, you made a good start when you took the pub, it needs constant fettling to retain its trading position. Once a regular drinker here, but unfortunately no longer worth the 2 mile walk from home across the fields. BeerMonstersBall - 25 Jul 2008 11:40
Visited the Hatch during the Abinger Fayre. Was shocked that the bar was almost empty when in previous years you had to wait ages to get a drink. Toilets still don't flush and the bar is dirty. How the mighty have fallen lolo9801 - 26 Jun 2008 20:52

Can't believe how expensive this pub is now for both food and drink. Used to love the Hatch but it's too expensive. lolo9801 - 12 Mar 2008 12:23
A lovely pub for a Sunday drink or lunch. Beautiful inside - proper beams and the ever traditional fairy lights! A good choice of good quality Sunday menu, worth the price. (Also interesting ales and wines.) The summers and winters are equally catered for with a large beer garden or a roaring fire. It's over looking the village green, church and village hall. Perfectly english! The only problem is that someone has to drive to get there. It's worth finding a virtuous non-drinker person to go with. AShep - 23 Jan 2008 21:00
