Usually a good pub. The barstaff at the moment are feckless though.

Emily the barmaid on today is extremely slow and disinterested. She was showing a new barmaid the ropes today and very quickly she was also in the kitchen hiding out pretending to wash glasses and reading her phone.

Meanwhile staff are waiting to be served. The regulars had to call them a few times to serve people.

Staff like Emily and whoever she trains will cause serious damage to this pub's profits and good reputation.

Great service and a great selection of ales; what more can you ask for? Top marks to the landlady, one of the most pleasant individuals to serve behind a bar which when you consider the competition in the area is top praise indeed.

Fantastic pub great real ail don't know what the Whisky diet and camera colin are on about probably old farts with nothing better to do but generate nasty comments about people that don't even work in the pub as far as I am concerned the beer is great the food is home cooked and real good the staff are friendly and they are so excited about big changes afoot with a new fresh paint job arriving soon

You mean DJ Dan the Pie-Step General who also gigs at The Sun up the road? With his ever ready Numark decks and a fresh batch of pies this guy is a-rollin' literally! I hear he is treating his good lady to a romantic night out at that most avant-garde of Valentine's venues; Burger King. Mind you the King are offering an all week £1.99 Whopper deal so methinks everyday will be Valentine's this week for the Pie-Step general eh?

Greg, it wouldn't surprise me if the ever desperate 'spoons chain started hosting "Which Wetherspoon's Employee (past & present) Has The Biggest Gut?" nights. Granted in the Reading area they'd have plenty of contenders; Dan and his missus alone would be strong contenders although I'd still say Claire from Monks would win hands down.
