Have eaten here before (couple of weeks ago) and the food was amazing but disappointed with the Christmas meal. New potatoes underdone and roast potatoes and parsnips overdone. Good selection of veg. Service slow but friendly staff. Chunks of turkey rather than slices so a bit off putting, way too much - took it home for the dog! Would eat there again on normal days but would not recommend for Christmas meal. Madison77 - 15 Dec 2011 21:38
Met up with sister-in-law and family for sunday lunch. 8 of us in total. Service wasn't the quickest but fortunately we weren't in any hurry. Meals were good although if I'm being picky the roast potatoes were over cooked (possibly cos we met at 2). Food is ordered at the bar. Nice pub, nice fire going, nice atmosphere. Have added it to our list of meeting places. Pickledonions - 17 Dec 2010 18:48
This has been a succesful food stop for several years. Good meat used with simple accompaniments. Beer is generally good but there has been the odd bad pint and ignorant response from young female staff so some caution required. Range of beers probably too large, try to have one others are drinking. pheon - 30 Nov 2010 17:15
Visited wednesday for the first time. Quaint olde worlde pub, quite large in some respects.Young but pleasant enough staff, altjough at one point they all seemed to disappear. We had a fairly long wait for our food, although not busy,it was good plentiful and well presented, but let down by the black flecks of the griddle. The beer selection was good and tasted very good. I was informed by my friend that the gents toilets lacked drying facilities were small and not very clean. james55westhead - 13 May 2010 05:30
Excellent warm and cheerful pub, the staff were friendly and efficient. Good selection of Ales and in superb condition, the meals were great value. Well worth visiting, but if your dinning get there early as it is very popular. pivovar - 21 Mar 2010 20:52
