| A great place for Sunday lunch. Like Richard, I had the roast beef - about 4 enormous slices of perfectly cooked flavoursome beef, crunchy roast potatoes, heaps of fresh vegetables still with a good bite to them. The price... £9.60 each. The large rear extension where we ate is light and airy and modern without being pretentious. Just a great, relaxed lunchtime ambience, lots of families, excellent bitter too. hotmale - 22 Sep 2008 00:28 |

| Visited this pub today. Having grown up a mile or so away I used to sit in the garden on summer Sunday evenings while my parents had a drink inside - children not being welcomed in pubs in the 50s! Today could not have been more of a contrast, and I enjoyed a superb roast beef lunch which could not be faulted in any way. Others with me had different fare which was equally first rate. Portions are large and not expensive. The extensive children's menu (included on which is a 5oz steak meal!)comes on a colouring sheet - with crayons provided - featuring a cartoon of the pub; my eight year old thought that much to his taste, as was the spaghetti bolognese! My pints of Butcombe were as good as any I have had at the New Inn, Wedmore which, believe me, is praise indeed. The patio and garden with well tended beds, hanging baskets and tubs was beautiful. Neil and his team run a welcoming and lovely pub which I would welcome to anyone of any age. Richard_Abraham - 30 Jul 2006 23:23 |
