I love this pub, wonderful food, nice view of canal, nice beer. mmichael0 - 23 Jan 2010 23:36
As a regular visitor to Nottingham (only for the Castle Rock Brewery!!!) I am absolutely horrified by my experience in this 'so called' pub. The beer was palatable; at best. Having ordered my food, which was reasonably priced, I was brought back to Earth with a thud!!! The so called 'gammon' I was offered was a pathetic, dehydrated piece of pig with a D grade slop of egg on top. To top it off, my complaints were met with the last desperate scowls of a sinking publican...aside from the hard working bar staff, I am comfortable that there will be some worthwhile victims of the recession. STAY AWAY!!! temp - 20 Nov 2009 23:13
Situated virtually next door to the Canal House, on which I have just posted, is Fellows Morton and Clayton which, for those who are wondering, is not a firm of accountants or solicitors, but a pub named after a former firm of local boat builders. Like the Canal House, the building is a converted warehouse. Inside felt disappointingly chainy and there was a distinct lack of canal / boating memorabilia to interest drinkers. There was not the emphasis on micro-brewery beers that I have come across in other Nottingham pubs. Here only Nottingham Legend and Mallard Quacker Jack were available to supplement the better known offerings such as Landlord, Black Sheep, London Pride and Deuchars IPA. My pint of Nottingham Legend was not particularly good. This pub used to be a home brew pub, but I didn't see any such beers and, as there is no reference to any brewery in the 2009 GBG section, I suspect that this must have now ceased. I don't see any compelling reason to do this one again JohnBonser - 29 Jul 2009 15:28
Called in this pub in March while doing a crawl of Nottingham and had Fellows Morton and Clayton Original 4.3%. Wasn't sure of its origins, and was told it is brewed by Nottingham brewery for them. Menu doesn't look bad, but hadn't time this time round to try it. gillhalfpint - 10 Jul 2009 15:23
| In the LOCALE scheme for Nottingham. Mallard's beers are nice and light for the Summer. Good freindly bar staff. 10% discount on food if you are a Citycard holder (Must live in the City of Nottingham). Usual 20p discount off a pint of beer on production of CAMRA membership card.
