I need to tell the truth about this establishment. Everyone should take the opportunity to visit before it becomes impossible to get a seat. This pub is known locally and world wide for its impecable hospitality, superb beers and outstanding atmospere. We especially enjoyed the company of the mysterious gentleman in the white raincoat and trilby who was enjoying his cigar in the rear garden. Well done Stags Head. If only this rating system could go to 11.

This pub, well if you can call it so, its disgusting to say the least! my husband and i went in for a couple of drinks, the landlady, at the end of the bar, well i never, she was blind drunk, slurring her abusive slang at the staff. Dirty seating, dirty walls, dirt just about in every nook you could find. Venture into the ladies if you dare, i started heaving! took a quick look in the other bar, mainly young guys and a few older looking drug dealers. tried to drink up as quick as i arrived, but the fat drunk lady kept butting in to everything my husband and i were talking about, i take my hat of to the staff who have to put up with this awful woman. Avoid with great care!!

Appalling, vile, indescribable. The most offensive, loud and drunken 'landlady' not seen since Dickens was writing. A barmaid who dresses (well, almost) and looks like a superannuated tart and a smoking area that surpasses Steptoe's back yard in its squalor and filth. NEVER cross the threshold of this grotesque parody of a pub.

What a tragic waste of a potentially beautiful building. Bad hygene, bad beer, bad staff.
Agree completely with the below reviews. Very expensive.
But to be fair I am guessing that the landlord has only just taken over, as there is a temporary smoking area out side and the entire place only looks half decorated.
Health and Safety would have a riot in there! Ghastly

Dear oh dear oh dear. Am in agreement with the previous review. You could call it "authentic" as it is old. Or you could just go with absolute squalor. Unhelpful, unfriendly staff (mostly) and the drunkest most unfit for the job landlady this side of christendom who seems to delight in abusing paying customers. When they can understand her. Add to this blatant cocaine abuse/dealing and a (un) healthy dollop of racism and you get the picture. A bit like going for a drink at the Jigsaw killers house from "Saw". Except without as many laughs. For your own wellbeing please avoid.
