I also was a regular here when the name was The Railway. It was a long time ago 1966 - 1968. Anybody remember Fred's chair. Email me at bldrstan@yahoo.com

This has been my local for many years and has changed over time. Still a friendly pub with a good atmosphere especially since the smoking ban came in ;)

Food is ok and now that they serve in the evenings aswell it is much better, sometimes I would go at lunchtime only to find the kitchen is closed which is a shame because many local businesses use this place for a bit of nosebag.

Beer is ok and seems to be kept well though often after one or two pints of cask ale it may run out and there is not another barrel ready to go on.

The cellar is not used so all the beers are kept outside in the old stables and because the pipes are not buried very deep you can find either very cold in the winter or over warm in the summer except for the chemical garbage of course ie Fosters. Stella et al.

Toilets stink.

Has anyone seen Claire Blades, Bonnie and marther? I miss then as they were one of the best things about this pub

This pub has become my local over the last 2-3 years and I find it very welcoming. Fanastic atmosphere for the football and not at all in a intimidating way. Equally as good for a quick one on the way home from work or to catch up with somone. Always a wide range of people there and all the bar staff are polite and helpful. Beer selection and quality has steadily improved and the price ain't bad comapred to the other pubs in the area. Can honestly say I have never had a bad time down the monks.

I remember this pub from when it was the "Railway". There still was the old name in the glass, after the name change. Now that the station has been reopened, will the old name be restored?
