Yet another characterless Greene King managed house. All the usual dross beers, nothing special. Reminds me of an 'estate pub'. TV's everywhere, loads of guys hanging 'round the bar. I tried, I hated it, I won be going back.

Had a pint of Abbot and a cheese and bacon baguette when visiting at lunchtime. Both were excellent, the baguette was very good value. Many offife workers and OAPs were present, with the varied areas of the pub and the garden there was a place for everyone.

I also was a regular here when the name was The Railway. It was a long time ago 1966 - 1968. Anybody remember Fred's chair. Email me at [email protected]

This has been my local for many years and has changed over time. Still a friendly pub with a good atmosphere especially since the smoking ban came in ;)

Food is ok and now that they serve in the evenings aswell it is much better, sometimes I would go at lunchtime only to find the kitchen is closed which is a shame because many local businesses use this place for a bit of nosebag.

Beer is ok and seems to be kept well though often after one or two pints of cask ale it may run out and there is not another barrel ready to go on.

The cellar is not used so all the beers are kept outside in the old stables and because the pipes are not buried very deep you can find either very cold in the winter or over warm in the summer except for the chemical garbage of course ie Fosters. Stella et al.

Toilets stink.
