| amazing pub with so much potential im just been to the party tonight had to leave due to something what happened at home. it was my friends 35Th birthday party. the food was all arranged by the landlady (i think her name is DI) they (whos party it was i wont say) only had a small food budget but she made it look like and taste like there was a huge budget. the DJ disco was amazing i think the pub arranged them (http://www.icedgrooves.com/). bar staff nice and friendly :). before the party i saw a group of people getting the room ready all done by DI and her team. every thing was perfect for the time i was there. i assume by the amazing atmosphere that it will end on a good note and that others are thinking the same as me. the function bar is away from the main bar used by its regulars. the regulars are nice and friendly people but they are regulars and they think there all that but you get that with every pub. i do not agree with the other comments "skanky pub" i do agree with there is lots of kids running around but this pub is more social you can bring your kids down. the kids can have fun. unlike the others in that area. there is lots to do there bingo on a Sunday quiz and darts on a Monday children's darts on a Tuesday darts on Thursday jam nigh and pool on a Thursday karaoke on Friday Saturday is clear. the pub also has a cafe on the right what is an alcoholic clear zone. so good if you don't want to be near drunks. it has its own toilets. overall it is a stunning pub. stevethepubcritic - 12 Nov 2011 22:32 |

| Clicky local pub for local people. Not particularly welcoming to newcomers and had load of kids running about when I visited. Won't return. Reminds me of the village pub from American Werewolf in London. skippybn21 - 30 Sep 2010 10:51 |
| I have recently visited The Drive public house, I do not live in this area but have reatives who do and we go for a pint or two when I am down this way. All I can say these people behind the bar , Di and her team were very friendly and accomodating, they held a couple of events there recently which I attended and found a good hardworking team , they provided a wonderful buffet and the music played by "Mandy the music mixer" ( as I called her) was a mix of 50"s...60"s right up until the present day, which was enjoyed by all, old fogies like me and 16, 17, 18yrs old, it was a great evening. Ok, we all know pubs always have one or two undesireables, but hey thats the name of the game....put up or shut up and dont go there again............but as far as I am concerned they were genuine, very hard working and most welcoming, the place its self could do with a few licks of paint here and there but that does not detract from very friendly service...Thanks Di and your team.....! | The recent postings on here are downright nasty! The last five reviews posted are mean spirited, poisonous and are extremely hurtful to the owners and their staff. This is a bit of a chavvy pub, with groups of unsavoury looking individuals always hanging aound the entrance, but does not in anyway deserve these kind of reviews! The Drive appears to be popular with locals, and no doubt will continue to prosper-it appears to have quite a few 'regulars'. The Lamb attracts a certain kind of clientele (mainly middle-class), while The Drive attracts a different crowd ( mainly members of the working or shirking class), but to each their own. A review is an assessment or an appraisal, not an excuse to write malicious or wounding comments to cause upset or offense to an individual or a group. And it is certainly not the way to settle some slight or, to settle a personal score! Did somebody refuse to serve you in The Drive, Karlboy? hotjuicylucy1 - 6 Jan 2010 16:42 |
