Looks rough and ready but I got a warm welcome on a recent visit (unlike the Cavendish). Pity they stopped doing real ale a few months ago and only had JW Lees Smooth on offer, which I declined. doncaosdelanada - 13 Aug 2008 12:42
This place isn't the most appealing from the outside. Nor for that matter, the inside. The beer's ok though, and quite cheap, but when I was there the punters did seem a tad downtrodden, although there was no lighting and it was pissing down with rain (although that's hardly unusual in Manchester...). The salutation is better than this gaff, it must be said. man_of_kent - 30 Jun 2007 20:13
I don't think shellov's review is really fair. It's not a family pub, certainly, but they serve good beer and the staff are friendly. I wouldn't leave a coat or bag (or girlfriend) alone in there, but if you enjoy a game of pool and a decent bitter then it's not a bad place at all. In shellov's review, for 'inbred' read irish. I found the locals to be friendly, although it's not a place to go if you prefer to be left alone. gilgamesh - 24 Feb 2006 21:42
I would hate to ever see the pub that Shellow rates worse than this dump. JohnZ - 3 Feb 2006 17:42
2nd worst pub I've been in ever! Small, dirty, dingy old man's pub. Staf & customers a scary bunch of inbred types. Poor selection of drinks, no air con....poor small TVs. All good apart from that shellov - 8 Jun 2005 13:38
